I was fortunate enough to work with Noel Mayo Associates, the first Black-owned design firm in the United States. Noel Mayo Associates (NMA) is a full-service design consultancy specializing in products, graphics, interiors, and wayfinding. NMA's primary client, Lutron Electronics, is the global leader in electronic lighting products. Other clients included The Organization of Black Designers and The National Black Diabetes Association. In addition to all of the exciting projects, working with NMA taught me valuable lessons in dealing directly with new clients, as well as contract and proposal writing.
